This is how Ink & Ladder handles your personal information. We’ve tried to write it in plain English, not legalese.
Who we are
Ink & Ladder is a career-document service operated as a sole proprietorship in New Jersey, USA. When this policy says “we,” “us,” or “our,” we mean Ink & Ladder. When it says “you” or “your,” we mean you — anyone visiting our website or using our services.
What we collect
When you fill out our contact form, we collect: your name, email address, phone number (if you provide it), career details you choose to share, and any resume file you upload.
When you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address.
When you book a free consultation, we collect: your name, email address, the time you select, and any details you add when booking. This is handled through Google Calendar.
When you become a paying client, we collect payment information through Stripe (our payment processor). Stripe handles your card details directly — we never see or store your full card number. We do receive your name, email, billing address, and a record of what you purchased.
When you visit our website, our hosting provider (Netlify) collects standard server logs: your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps. This is automatic and isn’t tied to your identity.
We don’t use any third-party analytics, advertising trackers, or social media pixels.
How we use your information
We use it to:
- Deliver the services you’ve engaged us for (writing your resume, communicating about your project, sending you the final files)
- Respond to your inquiries
- Process payments
- Send you the newsletter if you’ve subscribed
- Schedule and run consultation calls
- Comply with legal obligations (e.g., tax records)
That’s it. We don’t use your information for marketing to third parties, and we don’t sell or rent your data.
Who we share it with
Running a small business requires a few essential service providers. Each of these has its own privacy practices:
- Google Workspace — for our email (hello@inkandladder.com), calendar, and document storage. Your communications with us live in Google Workspace.
- Netlify — for hosting our website and processing form submissions. Form data lives temporarily in Netlify’s dashboard.
- Stripe — for processing payments. Stripe handles all credit-card data per industry security standards (PCI-DSS).
We share information with these providers only as needed for them to perform their function. We don’t share your information with anyone else, except when legally required (e.g., a subpoena).
How long we keep it
- Email correspondence: indefinitely, as part of our business records.
- Form submissions: kept in Netlify Forms until we delete them; we periodically clean these out.
- Payment records: kept for at least 7 years for tax and accounting purposes.
- Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe.
- Resume drafts and deliverables: typically kept for 12 months after delivery in case you ask for the files again. After that, we delete them.
You can ask us to delete your information at any time (see Your Rights below).
Your rights
You can:
- Request a copy of any personal information we hold about you. Email us at hello@inkandladder.com.
- Request that we delete your information. We’ll honor this within 30 days unless we’re required to retain it for legal or accounting reasons (e.g., tax records of a paid transaction).
- Unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time by replying “unsubscribe” to any email.
- Correct any inaccurate information we hold about you by emailing us.
Cookies and tracking
We don’t use cookies for tracking or advertising. The only browser storage we set is for basic site functionality. We don’t track you across other websites.
Children’s privacy
Ink & Ladder’s services are intended for adults (18+) seeking career documents. We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we’ll update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes (e.g., a new category of data collection), we’ll also notify you by email if we have your address.
